Stained glass artists are the ones who create some great patterns and designs on the glass which can be seen on the stained glass windows for homes, buildings, churches, hotels etc. It is very necessary to something for the right pattern. By this, the beauty of the material and the design or the pattern will be enhanced and will make it look more interesting. There are basically many types of stained glass of which some are described below.
Different types of glasses which are used by the stained glass artist:
CATHEDRAL GLASS: This type is generally transparent and they are popular because of its transparency. It is available in number of textures like tinted in a single or uniform colour or the surface textured like hammered and marine textures. To get a better and a little more complex kind of look and colour, cathedral glass can be layered.
OPALESCENT GLASS: Opalescent glass commonly can be in single colour but it can be in more than one colour and one can find many different variations and different patterns. It is basically a translucent type glass. It only allows some light to pass through it. But sometimes the things that are on the other side cannot be seen through it because of its type. Opalescent glass is the best type among all different types of stained glasses.
WISPY GLASS: Wispy glass can be defined as the mixture of two colours because two different colours are mixed together. Its special feature is that it covers the properties of both the cathedral glass and opalescent glass. Here the difference only comes in the amount of the light that passes through them that can create a better and interesting effect.
STREAKY GLASS: Streaky glass can be explained as similar to the wispy glass because it also covers the same feature. It is also the combination of the two colours. The main difference in this is that both the colours are basically opalescent and thus rich and complex colours are created.
BEVELS: Bevels are included in the accent pieces that are between the large pieces in stained glasses. Mostly it is used to create interesting borders. Whole piece of art can also be created by such bevels. These types of glasses are kind of thick at the edges and they easily reflect light.
The above category described can be combined in many different ways by the stained glass artists in numbers of ways. It may happen at times, that in spite of using the same pattern, the work is seen in different ways once it is completed because of its color and the textured used to create it.
